Hello,

I have a simple suggestion for the X1 and would love for the software engineers to implement it.  I completely understand that the X1 is meant as a high quality audio player but once in a while I do enjoy a good audio book to listen to.  Would it be possible for the X1 to suport file formats that are sold by audible.com?

These are the file formats the audio books come with:

.aa
.aax

They advertise that they can load to ton of devices, my last device was so old it wasn't on their list. I got the X1 thinking it might be.
To me it sounds like audible needs to add the X1 to their program, not the other way around. I suppose either way, they would have to make some sort of agreement.

Is there a converter that will transcode the .aa/.aax formats to a format the X1 supports?

I just did a quick Google search and there appears to be many options, including some free utilities.

I just d ...

The converters out there don't really convert anything.  The way it's currently working is that they play the file at the normal speed, and then record it at the same time in a different format.  So if a book takes 20 some odd hours, then it will take about that time for it to record the book in an mp3 format.

You can't really do anything with your computer at the time either if it requires sound because it will record that too.

Hello,
I have X3 2nd gen and using Etymotic Research hf3 with 3 buttons control (for iPhone, CTIA). The middle button working alright, but other two buttons (top/bottom for volume) not.
Is it possible add support 3 button control to new firmware for X3 2nd gen (and X1)?
It will be very comfortable.
Thank You.
Best regards.

Hi a have a suggestion how to make a blind control more friendly.
when you use a 3rd keylock scheme ( when volume buttons, play button, and ff/rev buttons are active with a screen switched off)
in that case you don't need to use volume buttons as next/previos track switcher
Just leave it like Volume control buttons. further more it's very annoing when you trying to control volume and suddenly skip a track
and every time you need to manage with wolume you should constantly many many times pressing the vol button - that's realy freaking me out. and not only me. cuz there is very big volume control range. you can not just hold the Vol Down button and decrease volume from 70% to 20 %  (((

It looks like there is more to this than what I first thought. It is not a simple matter of converting it. These files have DRM build into all the files. There is a discussion about it here (among many other places): http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7998

This might be why it seems so difficult to decode/reincode. From what I have read, if you purchase stuff from them, you are legally able to make 1 cd of the music/podcast (DRM free). After that, it is a simple matter of ripping it to any format you want.

I just did more research, I am way off.

Foobar DOES indeed decode aax/axx, but it's specifically for VGM and not individually encrypted purchases, siiiigh.

Hello, is this solution? As for play Audible audiobooks to the X1, I think you need to help from the third-party program. I've used AudFree Audible Audiobook Converter to decode AA/AAX and listen to them on the X1 freely. It's a professional program to batch convert AA/AAX files to MP3 format losslessly.
