Stable firmware version FW1.3 for X3 2nd gen nowavailable!
Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hy1vmo94w8a7jyh/X3%202nd%20gen%20FW1.3.zip?dl=0
After downloading the update, please unpack (unZIP) the package and read theupdate instructions contained within.

The following changes and improvements were made to FW1.3  compared to FW1.1:
1. Pressing the Back button from the Now Playing screen will now  always take you to the folder / album / etc. from which the current  song is selected.  This is true even after navigating to the main  menu or powering the X3 off and back on;
2. Added support for M3U playlists without the "#EXTM3U"  header;
3. Removed the 5800 song limit of media library;
4. Added Russian and Thai language UI support.
5. Improved gapless playback of single music files split by CUE  sheets;
6. Fixed issue where the genre tag of AAC files (.m4a) was read  incorrectly;
7. Fixed issue where the X3 has trouble entering standby if a  micro SD card or OTG storage was removed while music was  playing;
8. Fixed issue where the headphone output made noises if the  volume is changed using the volume keys when the player is  acting as USB DAC;
9. Fixed issue where certain situations caused the player to play  songs without sound;
10. Fixed issue where in USB DAC mode holding a volume button  while the screen is off caused problems in the sound output;
11. Fixed issue where certain music files caused the player to  hang;
12. Fixed issue where resetting an EQ setting did not take effect  (sliders update but sound doesn't change) until another preset  was selected;
13. Optimized sorting of songs within ISO image files;
14. Corrected translation of certain terms in the UI;
15. The default function of the multifunction output has been  changed to line out, to cater to the majority of users using it as line  out;
16. Equalizer may now also be used with line out and coaxial  output;
17. Fixed issue where unplugging and replugging earphones 2-3  times quickly while a song was playing caused popping sounds  through the earphones;
18. Fixed issue where there would be no sound on playback if  connections to the headphone out / line out were broken and  reconnected / changed within one second;
19. Enabled correct splitting of music files by CUE files with  indexes of over 99 minutes;
20. Various other bug fixes and stability improvements.

Dear Fiio,

Thank you for updates. Unfortunately, the performance of working with large playlists is still very poor. For example, I have ~ 2300 songs in one of my playlist, and it takes about 12-16 seconds to open it! Moreover, now it takes the same amount of time if I press 'back' and it goes to the list.
Please, do something about it!

By the way, if I just open 'all songs', the performance is great. However, I really need this playlists functionality and I would like it to be less annoying. Thank you in advance.

P.S. I am using M3U8 playlists.

Hi, illi4, we will try to do something about this. Is your sd card Fat32? If not, pls format it in x3, this may improve the speed.

Thank you for the follow-up.
Right, it is formatted in FAT32 (I did this using the player). Other users in the Internet are also experiencing the same issue, and for some it takes ~ 5 minutes if they are opening 5000-songs playlists.
From my point of view, possible solutions would be to allow editing of internally stored playlists (somehow) or not to read all the files in a playlist at once.
Thank you very much!

I'd like to upgrade, but I'm slightly hesitant due to sound deterioration with X1 and 1.5 FW. Anyone tested sound footprint with X3II 1.1 and 1.3?

  I am using the newest FW for the X3II, and I notice no difference in sound.

Thanks for your response!
Updated to 1.3 and it seems that it doesn't remember last played track when used as DAC compared to 1.1. This is likely how Fiio solved the 10th issue:
10. Fixed issue where in USB DAC mode holding a volume button  while the screen is off caused problems in the sound output;

Remembering last played song was rather useful feature of 1.1
To fix 10th issue, it's way more sensible to disable volume buttons acting as previous/next buttons when holding down (through separate menu item "Use volume buttons for track change" - ON/OFF).

This would be useful function, as I don't like the secondary function of the volume buttons even in player mode (for example you want to turn the volume down quickly, but it changes the song instead).
