What about the cluster size? Should we use 32K or 4K as suggested by alphire?

I've just ordered the Lexar 200 GB microSD, it will be delivered on tuesday.

Ok, I am going to time a few things, re-copy everything and then time the same things again. I will return with results in a few days.

X3 Formatting Results
load artists - 4.1
load albums - 3.7
Loading a specific album - 4.5 (on first test, 1.9 afterwards and for several albums)
back to albums - 4.1
Opening Shuffle Playlist (2104 tracks) - 21.8
Media Library Scan (10,361 tracks) - 13:41

This doesn't quite tell the whole story because the media library scan starts to slow down dramatically after about 9000 tracks.  It could do about 1100 per minute up to that point. I therefore presume that more tracks will slow it further. However, a 100% improvement in some tasks and nearly 200% in library updating is nothing to sneeze at.

Hello,

I have a little problem with my Fiio X1 player. During the listening I notice that the part of a different song (2-3 seconds) is added to the song I played, I checked that corrupted song again but the problem still appears. The original file with this song is clear, it doesn't have this part on it, but after I copy this corrupted song from Fiio to my computer the problem exist even when I'm listening this song on my computer. I'm using Fiio interface to copy files on a memory card (Good Ram 32GB class 10) and it's just looks like some other parts of the songs is recording to other MP3 files during the copy.

I've made factory reset of a device and format memory card but the problem still appears, I've tried to used a different memory card (Kingston 64GB class 10) but problem exist even on it and makes more frustrated.

Please help me to find a solution with this problem or tell my do I need to make a complaint of the device on warranty. I'll be grateful for every help I received.

Hi, etm, do you mean that you can hear a different sound from other songs while you are playing? It seems weird. Pls format the sd card in x1, then transfer files back to test.

The new firmware speeds up the library update no end! I'm not timing it, but it has done about a third of its update in the time it has taken me to log in and write this. I am so very excited about this firmware, I've been anticipating it since 1.6 came out!

yes, you can hear another song about 1-2 seconds ... formatting does not help , the problem returns
I'm sorry, but the error is copied to Fiio x1 , and not before ... the error is fixed and is already in the mp3 file permanently , even after copying to another drive ... what is it? Fiio damaged ?

The 200 GB Lexar microSD card works like a charm, I have about 1000 hi-res tracks (most of them are DSD files) and still 10 GB left.

And most important thing I haven't hear a single stutter with this card!
I'll never buy a Samsung card again.

Hi,

Hi,

This is great info, thanks for running these tests and sharing the results. When you say "X3 Formatting Results" I assume you mean that you formatted the cards in your X3 but do you know what format and cluster sizes the X3 creates? I have an X5II so I'm not sure if it's the same or not.

Thanks,

D

Hi,

Hi,

If you format your sd card in our player, it will make the sd card to fat32 format. FAT32 format is compatible well with our player.

Hi Yellow,

What is the largest partition size your FAT32 formatter can create? As you know, the windows FAT32 system can't format any partition larger than 32 GB which is looking very small these days but other 3rd party formatters can go beyond this. It appears that there are some directory/partition table errors happening with 200gig and larger SD cards after being formatted in the X5II.

Thanks,

D

Hi, dilburt, as we test, our player can format the sd card with largest partition to 200gb to fat32 format. We don't find any directory/partition table error as you said.

Ok, it looks like the problem is with the USB adapter I'm using since I only see these errors when I try to copy files directly on my PC but not when I use the USB cable to the X5. Since it looks like my USB adapter won't work for cards over 128 gig I ordered a new adapter that says it works up to 2 TB so I'll let you know next week but I'm pretty sure this will fix this issue.

The 200 gig card works fine with the new adapter so it wasn't your formatter. My old adapter must not have been built for anything larger than 128 gig.

This USB 3 adapter is much faster than using the USB cable and can support reading from 5 cards at the same time. I currently get up to 8 mbs writing new files with the USB cable to the X5II and get up to 20 mbs with this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/produc ... 1_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
