The following changes and improvements have been made to the FW1.1.9 compared to the FW1.1.8:

1. Added Balanced turbo function (can be enabled in Settings->Audio settings after setting the Gain to High. And with the Balanced turbo enabled, the output power will increase by 500mW on the basis of High Gain mode);
2. Added function to jump to the album or artist of the current playing track (click the "…" icon in the Now Playing menu to use this function);
3. Added "Bluetooth never sleep" option (go to Settings->Bluetooth, click the "┇" icon on the upper right, and enter "Sleep Settings" to enable it);
4. Enabled the independent upgrade of FiiO Music app (From now on, we will upgrade FiiO Music app independently);
5. Added charging protection for excessive high or low temperatures;
6. Fixed issue where some tracks might not be played correctly;
7. Fixed issue where the player sometimes might falsely detect an OTA firmware update;
8. Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Notes:

1. Spec comparison with the Balanced turbo on/Off.
对比EN.jpg

2.About the Sleep settings of Bluetooth: When the "Intelligent sleep" option is enabled, the player will automatically disconnect the Bluetooth after it enters standby, and you'll need to press the Power button to wake up the player before resuming to play; When the "Never" option is enabled, the player will never enter standby if it's connected to a Bluetooth device, and you can press the Play button on the Bluetooth device at any time to resume the playback. But this will also increase power consumption.

Firmware download: Click here.
How to upgrade: Click here.

I had the same problem with the last update (1.1.8). I sent FiiO Support an email about the issue and included  3 tracks for them to analyze. What was strange is it didn't affect the entire album, the noise is there for the entire song on tracks 1 thru 6, only for the first 2 seconds on track 7 and not there at all for tracks 8 thru 10. It is a Flac, 352khz/24bit album, MAGNIFICAT by  Nidarosdomens jentekor  The issue is still present with firmware 1.1.9.
I installed Neutron Music player and it had no issues playing the files.
FiiO Support suggested I downgrade to 1.1.7, which is a version I skipped altogether because it broke so many other things. Hope they get it resolved with the next update.

They should allow us to pick what player we want in pure music mode. I am certain that 99.999% will drop the Fiio player for something else.

in new firmware pops and crackles on FLAC files that do not have any pop or crackle. Different locations in the song each time. .....

Yes... Neutron Music player is way better however I'm not sure it uses the DAC's Full resolution.  FIIO music player is useless.  I can't believe they are offering it in the play store.  Who in the right mind would use a broken piece of software?

FIIO... Please fix the DAP so we can use full resolution and pure music mode for Neutron Music player.

Is the downsample issue also addressed? The Fiio Musicplayer app itself is really not user friendly in use and very very slow in response so I use JetAudio which is great. But all high res output is downsampled to 44.1 kHz 16-bit.
And yes, I also would really like a player of choice in the Pure Mode.

FIIO,

Please focus on the most CRITICAL issues instead of releasing firmware update that are not important.

1.  Micro USB Out Function
2.  Unable to resume song after sleep mode when the SONG is located in SD Card slot 2.
3.  Gapless not Gapless
4.  Sorting Issue
5.  FIIO Music Crashes

To many to tell. And please test the firmware before releasing. You keep introducing new bug everytime there is an upgrade.

Do you think I would benefit by trading in my X5 3rd generation device for
an X7 Mark II device that seems to cost $590 on discount?
It would be nice to be able to access the 5GHz wi-fi networks and have
32GB extra internal storage to add more music

I am still experiencing sluggish behavior with this X5 one and the 5 to 10
minutes set up time still holds. some days are better than others... I just
do not understand why it has to be so choppy and inconsistent in
operating.

PS: But I do like the red color X5 I have and this X7 Mark II has color
of Titanium only, not red. Oh well.

Would you benefit? Absolutely NOT.  The problems with the x5iii are all present in the x7ii. Unless you want to spend even more money just to have a DAP that only does about 25% of what Fiio claims that it does with little to no chance of them ever fixing it.  They will give you a lot of "why" things don't work but they should have considered those reasons before deciding to use non Samsung chips.

If you want a DAP that has software written by people who are clueless about Android development and don't adequately test FW updates before releasing them or if you enjoy the mystery of what new bugs will be introduced with every new FW update while not addressing any of the bugs that were present in the first release then by all means run out today and get yourself an x7ii.  Hell, get two of them while you're at it... one in each color.

I do consider the X5 3rd Generation a bargain given I paid about $350 for it...

I do compare that to the close to $700 for the X7 and the only real benefit of
that one is just having access to the 5 GHz wi-fi band for "faster" wireless
speed, download if in Android mode. I think wi-fi is disabled in Pure mode
and just only bluetooth.  Wi-fi mode is also good for streaming music
to Chromecast, Audiocast, Linksys Range extender and a TV or two in my network.

I asked this question about the X7 a few months ago and  you and the others
seem to be consistent to discourage this move which I understand.
It would be nice to get one to test it out with option to return it if things do not
work out along with if I could get the same amount for the X5 I paid even if it is
used and in excellent condition.   so $700 - $350 = $350 ...

If the X7 is sluggish running and responding like the X5, then it is not much
benefit just to get an additional 32GB of internal storage.

I may experiment to see how the X5 can handle a 400GB micro sdxc card
from Sandisk I got recently.

Well thank you. I am not making any decision yet. I just do get tired of
the X5 3rd gen being so slow and behaving erratically just after adding 2 apps
(Chromecast, Audiocast ) and I had to uninstall those. Just use the minimum apps
needed on it.

Thanks.

A real improvement will be a Hiby R6 (US$529 from Indiegogo).

I did! I tried the R6 briefly. It is a very responsive DAP. Sound-wise, R6 is more robust, dynamic and smoother than X7II, and overall more musical and punchier than X5III. Soundstage and depth are exceptional. In comparison, X7II sounded lean, clinical and less engaging.

The R6 belongs to a friend. Yes, I compared it to my X5III and the same friend's X7II. How long was the audition? I didn't keep track but long enough to make my conclusions. My friend also owns an AR-M2 which is as responsive and musical.
