One thing I found a while ago was that using any format on your SD Cards other than FAT32 can cause issues. Yes exFAT will work but you are much more likely to have the random type of performance problems you describe so if your SD Cards are not FAT32, then format them this way. It's a bother having to reload the music but it's worth it IMHO.

I have 2 256G Sandisk with exFAT installed. They are good from I bough them 3months ago.
I don’t put songs or pictures in one folder over than 20.
I found that it I put too many files in one folder. It takes too long to read the them.  I think this is one thing important. The cpu is not fast as mobile cpu. The cpu is just good enough for playing music.

Hope this help. Good luck.

I think you will find it's much faster if you format your SD Cards with FAT32 instead of exFAT so you won't need to worry about things like how many items are in a specific folder. I ran through several tests with this and found that exFAT causes too many performance issues. In addition, I've found that formatting the cards in the device usually produces better results than formatting the cards in a PC using a USB adapter or card slot.

Fatal bug after updating the firmware of the X7 to version 3.3.5.

I use the bluetooth controller RM1 to control the X7.
After updating, remote control operation has become impossible.
Also Once connect the Bluetooth remote control, the play button on the X7 can not be used, and reboot will  fix it.

Gapless playback issue solved but all the other issues are still present and some of them are even worse and there are new issues with this firmware.

1.  Fiio Music is very slow and unstable! After OS boot it takes about  3 minutes to be ready!
2.        The issue when stopping a track now happens also with headphone output. Now the track stops and restarts, it doesn’t start from the beginning like before the upgrade, a bit better but still annoying!
3.        Very often playing a track, the display show the time, the progress bar works but no sound.
4.        Fiio Music restarts very often.
5.        If you pause a track, and after 1 minute you press play, the player plays a random track by another author, sometimes Fiio music restarts.
6.        Many gaps while playing tracks, particulary with HD tracks.
7.        Alphabetical order in authors, albums and in , better than the early versions but still not fully fixed.
8.        Alphabetical order in "scan for songs" doesn't work.
9.        Album list reposition: if I enter an album then i go back, the list doesn't reposition itself like it happens browsing authors.
10.        Alphabetical scrolling bar doesn't work in Author's albums view.

The worst firmware ever!

Hi,
After the latest update (1.2.1) for my X5III I noticed that the device volume wheel and buttons will become unresponsive or erratic. for example the volume wheel keeps jumping back and forth in volume like if I am on 70 and I increase it it some times jump to 65 or go up to 77 in random! this is driving me crazy .
Any way I can go back to 1.2.0 it was much more stable! or please fix this in the coming update.

Hi everyone,
(*crappy english, sorry!)

I have FW version 1.2.1 and i read a lot of problems here. My X5 is working fine. Volume button works, powerup do not take more than a minute, songs will keep playing good. It isn't fast, but it wasn't with the old FW.

Now i want to upgrade to a external DAC, the Ifi Micro BL, but my seller says it will not work because de X5 will not do USB audio out. He tested with an X5..

Is there any who have tested this?

Thanks a lot!

Hi everyone,
(*crappy english, sorry!)

I'm not sure about USB out but the X5 mkIII provides a digital coax output which would probably have less jitter.

My question is why you would want to spend money on an outboard DAC when the X5 mkIII probably has the same or better DACs than you will get in an external DAC. These external DACs are great to use for smartphones but would be a waste of money for your X5 mkIII IMHO.

I've heard better things come out of a HD660S... But i'm only looking for info, if it isn't working in any way, there is no need to test other dacs. Just trying nice stuff what is on the market, and sometimes i can't hold myself from buying...

The A5 will do a lot with de HD660S. Directly to the X5, de 660 is 'softer' & 'smoother', the A5 bring it more 'Straight'. Maybe not the right terms, but i'm not in this business everyday, and never writing  English..

Thanks for you're reply! Enjoy the listening!

Good Afternoon,

Since the last update I can't use my X7 with the Bluetooth controller.

As soon as they are paired the X7 pauses every few minutes making it unusable especially in my car, can you please advise if this can be fixed.

There are no answers, we are abandoned ... You buy an (expensive) player with fabulous hardware waiting for the software to improve little by little, but you spend many MONTHS waiting for the player to work properly ... It's the last time I bought a Fiio.

If the x5iii is sluggish, take it out of the case.  This isn't a joke...try using it without the case and see how differently it responds. There's something in the case that is causing the equivalent of network jabber from the device's internal wifi antenna which affects wifi as well as the overall system responsiveness.

I bought a IFI Micro iDSD Black Label, and it is just working on USB audio right out of the box, X5 3rd. Nice work Fiio!

Dear friend,

You would need to burn the firmware if your would like to return to older firmware version: http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41890&extra=

Any ideas on how I can have my album tracklists play in original order and not alphabetical? This was not an issue prior to the firmware update.

OTA update not available. Does anyone have the 1.08 FW show up on their X7 MkII? I will update manually if it isn't available on the convenient OTA, like I have had before.

Thanks FIIO for this update 1.08

Got it, thanks.
