The advertised "deep sleep" mode of M9 does not seem to be working. I've talked to other M9 users as well, and several people report the same problem. I.e. the M9 continues to drain battery when sleeping. Mine goes from 90% to about 80% over night (Blue tooth and WiFi are turned off). Is this a firmware problem or a battery problem? I already had my M9 replaced by the retailer because of a problem with the SD-card reader, but the new one has the same problem with deep sleep/battery drain.

Dear friend,

You could check the battery life of the M9 according to the information in our website:

https://www.fiio.com/m9_parameters

If you would need to check the deep sleep time, you would need to turn off wifi Bluetooth music playback and check from 100% to 0% instead.

Best regards

OK, this concerns only battery drain during sleep mode, so I will test from 100% to 0% and get back to you. Just to be sure: what I usually do is that I pause the player and turn off the screen. It is set to sleep after 2 minutes of inactivity, so I assume it will go to "deep sleep" by itself? I also noticed that if I force stop Fiio Music, the battery will not drain. So it seems to me that it doesn't go into sleep mode if Fiio Music is not force stopped. So it seems like this is a software error, doesn't it?

Dear friend,

Please exit all the app first before testing.

Do you mean that deep sleep is only supposed to work if you exit (force stop) all the apps? Then there's no point to it really, one might as well just power off? Anyway, I will test sleep mode with all apps turned off.

I have now tested sleep mode by closing down all apps. Then it works (100% to 98% in 8 hours). But what does that mean? I assume "deep sleep" is supposed to work without manually force closing the apps, so is this a software error?

I finally found the problem. I uninstalled Spotify, and now it no longer drains the battery in sleep mode. Too bad, I guess that means you'll have to sacrifice the sleep mode if you want to use Spotify.
