I just copied 5 new folders of mp3's to my 512GB memory card (on a PC), then reinserted the card into my M6. ES File Explorer can see the new folders, but the Fiio Music app doesn't list them - e.g. when I try to scan selected folders the folders are not shown. When I requested a scan of the whole SD card it didn't pick up the new artists/albums either.
Any idea what the problem is? I'm running the latest kernel  - version 3.18.14 - build 1.0.2

I don't have a definitive answer for you but I had the same problem on various iterations of firmware updates.  The problem did not resolve in 1.24 but did in earlier versions and now in 1.25 most things seem quite stable.

I do know that the USB connectivity has been flakey.

It took a long while for me to get the connection to consistently work, on all firmware revisions (expect 1.24).  But this seems to be my method that works.

- start the X5-3
- I leave Explorer not running on my W10 machine.
- connect X5-3 to USB
- wait a short time as in about 10 seconds
- start Explorer and (as of now every time) I see X5, SD1, SD2 and am able to move files as I wish.

The problem is exacerbated when I want to connect a USB drive via OTG.  In that case, it seems the choice of Android file manager is most important to see each of X5, SD1, SD2 and the connected USB drive but after investing time and effort, there are results.

I have commented on this before, the X5, hardware wise provides wonderful audio output.  The on player music app though, leaves a lot of room for improvement, is inconsistent from various functions to other functions, still can hang, and is one of the more poor UI's I've used in 21 years of using mp3 players.  The computer interfacing both USB and WiFi has been inconsistent, but with perseverance both work.

I don't know if this can help or if its me commiserating with you but at any rate good luck with it.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply. I actually have the M6, not the X5-3. Also, I copy files to the SD card by removing the card, inserting it into a USB-SD card adapter and copying them onto the card within Windows 10 (I don't connect the M6 to the PC at all).

So after several requests to rescan my library the Fiio Music app has finally found the new folders. It seems that sometimes the scan does not pick up new tracks that have been copied to the SD card, but requires several attempts before it finds them - i.e. the problem is intermittent. It's quite annoying, as each scan takes a long time so it can be a long process to add new tracks to the libary and finally be able to play them.
