Hi,

Opened my new BTR5 today, tried it out, seems ok  ..... but when I tried to make telephone call using BTR5 (bluetooth mode), heard that the volume on my headset is weak (eventough have put volume setting to max on both my phone and BTR5).

Is there any parameter or setting to do ?

Thanks

Dear friend,

Your headphone is CTIA or OMTP standard one? Did you try the microphone in BTR5 as well? Can it work fine?

Best regards

Hi, i use  CTIA headphone,  no sure about the microphone, but they (Called party) heared me well.

I tried to put max volume on bluetooth volume setting, but it was not as loud as whenever put the headphone directly to the phone.

Dear friend,

So the other could hear you but you could not hear him clearly? Yours is using 1.0.0 firmware? The latest batch have 1.0.4 now. Do you need download link and instruction in English?

Best regards

FW1.4 download link: http://fiio-firmware.fiio.net/BTR5/BTR5_dfu_1.0.4.zip

How to update:

You could check the firmware version in the BTR5 first: Menu(Hold the power button for about 2 seconds in the after turning on)-Version(Click the power button in themenu page)-1.X.X

Do not update the firmware again is your BTR5 is using the latest firmware.

Please read the instruction carefully, and follow it step by step to upgrade your BTR5!

Before the firmware upgrade:
Download the Firmware Upgrade package( already including the firmware upgrade tool and firmware file)

Upgrade the firmware for the BTR5
1. Unzip the "Firmware upgrade package" , and then enter the unzipped folder (shown like Picture 1.1)
QQ截图20191128171255.png
2. Make the BTR5 enter DFU mode, and then connect the BTR5 with the computer by the supplied Type-C USB cable.
How to make BTR5 enter DFU mode: Power on the BTR5 and hold the Multifunctional button (which is in the middle of the Power button and Volume buttons) for about 5 seconds, then the 'pairing' shows up in the BTR5; Hold the Multifunctional button and Volume ”+” button for about 5 seconds, to make the BTR5 enter DFU mode (The BTR5 shows DFU for a few seconds ).

3.Run the FiiOBluetoothDfu program and click 'Start Upgrade' > 'OK', the upgrade program will run automatically

4. Unplug the USB cable and reboot the BTR5, and then you can use it normally.

Hi koolbreeze.
How is the BTR5? I was seriously considering it myself, going off reports the BTR3 isn't quite loud enough, so I really fancied it's slightly bigger bro. UNTIL I saw they were pretty much as rare as Dodo Jizz. Seems they might be being shipped again now.
Did you sort the problem, and what is the unit like, is it loud enough? I don't doubt it will sound great.
I ended up plumping for an M9. Whilst I'm over the moon with the unit and love it, physically. The software and user interface however leaves MUCH to be desired. Well to be fair, it is mainly the Fiio music player software. It is just SO damn basic, not well implemented and piss weak.
It comes to something when FREE software from over a decade ago that would run well on virtually any old Android phone puts a dedicated players software in the shade.
I have to seriously wonder who they have dealing with overseeing the software development and the devs when things are so rudimentary and downright awkward to use.
I am seriously considering returning the unit and going for a BTR, preferably a BTR5. Since it appears I will be very largely be using the unit controlled from my phone. The screen is almost superfluous.
I have to say, this is a great disappointment, a real pisser, as I do really love everything else about it. If the software matched the quality of the hardware, they would be fucking unbeatable.
I was toying with going nut's and getting a Q5 markII or the M11 Pro, but I simply cannot justify it, at the moment.
Anyway, good luck with the problem.

Hello Martian Music,

I am new to this kind of stuff, what i can comment is by comparing using wired with wireless (basic codec SBC).

The DAC part is really working , listen to music, we can tell noticeable improvement (connect with USB DAC or bluetooth).  I  use it for both my phone (bluetooth) and my pc (usb).

Yesterday i upgraded firmware to 1.04 , to see if i could get louder volume during telephone call .

It is hard to listen on other parties if you are on street or noisy environment

Unfortunately, not much different with previous firmware.

So i have to wait to new firmware ..

UPDATE :

This might be the solution .

using fiio app, we can control the device setting-- and surprisingly it allows telephone call volume adjustment.

by default (it is on 30), then we can increase it up to 60  (very loud).

I do not know why the volume setting on device could not adjust to 60, but I am happy to be able to set it by apps.
